How The Garibaldi embraced new technology and increased speed of service by 50%
In this case study, Siobhainn Lewis from The Garibaldi Community Pub in Redhill, Surrey very kindly shares some thoughts on the switch from previous POS and mobile app solution to ServedUp!
The ServedUp team has been amazing at every single step of the journey - and I’m not just saying this as lip service! None of our team are particularly ‘tech-orientated’, but the Zoom product demonstration felt so personal (especially after receiving a huge amount of sales calls previously!). Your team is a testament to the value you place on customer support, you put us at ease and checked that all of our team were confident with ServedUp before using it, which made us feel confident to use it. We are so impressed with the support and help available, in particular the speed at which you turned around our menu upload, which with previous companies took weeks. Day or night, you were working and available when we needed, we really appreciated the support especially after such a difficult period. "
Introducing The Garibaldi
" The Garibaldi is a real community pub - a wide cross section of the community come and visit us here in Surrey. That means everybody from families and locals in the day, regular evening drinkers, day groups (parent and child) as well as old and young, all are welcome.
Over the course of lockdown, we started off using a typical POS system and taking orders over the phone and writing them down. This was so that our regulars who were feeling isolated could order takeaway drinks to keep up a sense of normality. "
The Garibaldi is run by Friends of The Garibaldi, a group formed to save the existing pub and re-open it as a community pub.
The pub itself has stood on Mill Street for over 150 years and has always been a place for people from all walks of life to come together and socialise over a drink.
Why The Garibaldi needed ServedUp
"We have a really large pub garden and our POS terminal runs on bluetooth, so we couldn’t easily service all of our tables with limited signal. We were also getting double charged for taking payments over the phone with the same system, even though we paid a monthly fee for it already. It was beginning to cost a lot, and it was difficult to manage all of the customer orders coming through over the phone, so we knew we had to search for a new solution. That's when we found ServedUp"
How did ServedUp tick all the right boxes?
"We were initially introduced to theUp.co by Diageo's support package. and we ended up with our lovely CleanedUp hand sanitiser units. When I was contacted about the new ServedUp mobile order to table solution, I was a little nervous about implementing a new technology solution, but as soon as I had my Zoom product demonstration, I felt instantly at ease and supported, as though no question was too stupid or silly!"
Here are some high level stats since The Garibaldi Community Pub switching to ServedUp

- 70-85% of sales through ServedUp since implementing it, uptake is getting higher every day
- Improvement on customer satisfaction
- Gin sales have at least doubled
